Where Cal AI is the better choice
- Barcode scanning alongside photo logging.
- Built around the photo, so logging is quick if you are happy living in a calorie app.
- Lets you add your own foods and recipes.
Where Sunn fits
Sunn is for people who quit tracking because logging felt like homework. You send a photo or type what you ate, and the reply comes back in the same chat. If a portion is off, you correct it by replying.
It also sends an evening summary on days you log and a weekly review. Photo estimates are approximate, and there is no barcode scanner. How a WhatsApp tracker works, and where it falls short →

Is Sunn an alternative to Cal AI?
For tracking calories and macros, yes, with a different shape. Cal AI is a photo-first calorie counting app. Sunn works inside WhatsApp, so there is no separate app to open. It has no barcode scanner. If you eat mostly packaged food and want label-exact numbers, Cal AI is the better fit.
Is Sunn cheaper than Cal AI?
Cal AI does not list a price on its website, so compare in the app store. Sunn is $14.99 a month, or $79.99 a year after a 7-day free trial.
Can I use both?
Yes. Some people use a database app when they need label-exact numbers and a chat tracker for the everyday habit. Nothing about Sunn stops you from keeping another app.
